Odds and Ends

Wishing You Peace

by Rania Combs

As the year draws to a close, I have a lot for which to be thankful:

  1. My greatest joy is my family, and I am thankful for the opportunity to be a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt to amazing people I love more than I could ever express.
  2. I am thankful that we are healthy, live in a comfortable home, have sufficient food to eat every day, and are able to get medical care when we are not feeling well.
  3. I am thankful that we live in a safe neighborhood with good schools in a country that is not ravaged by war.

I am thankful for these things because I know that there are so many in this world who are not so fortunate, who are affected by famine and disease and conflict,  and who go to bed and wake up in fear of what the next day will bring.

My heart aches for them.

As we approach the end of 2016, my Christmas wish can be summarized by the words of one of my favorite holiday songs:

So here’s my lifelong wish
My grown up Christmas list
Not for myself but for a world in need
No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end
This is my grown up Christmas list

Wishing you peace this Season and in the coming year.

All my best,

Rania
