Many people delay having a estate plans drafted because they have difficulty selecting a guardian for their children. It’s a huge decision. After all, the person you choose will be responsible for caring for your children in the event the unthinkable happens.
The good news is that most children in our country will grow up with at least one parent to watch over them. But in a small percentage of cases where children are orphaned, having an estate plan is the only way to ensure that your children will be cared by a person of your choice, rather than a person selected by a judge who doesn’t know you or your family dynamics.
